About Karen
Insurance; kind of a strange thing to be passionate about! Maybe it’s not so much the insurance that excites me, but making sure that my clients are looked after, so if they were to suffer a loss, I am able to help ease some of the stress and regain financial security, that’s where I get my buzz.
Having been involved in insurance for in excess of 30 years, I’ve seen all sides of the industry: From claims for Fires, Floods and Earthquakes to motor accidents. From the perspective of business owners, trying to balance their outgoings, against the need for the right kind of insurance – without overdoing it with covers you might not really need.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have been able to travel for a number of years, returning between adventures to the same Insurer in Auckland. Before moving to Nelson, I managed a lodge in Queenstown – so I have experience both sides of the ‘insurance game’. I’ve lived in the Nelson/Tasman region since 2004, when I met my (now) husband, and along with our son, have made Tasman our home. Having been a broker here for 15 years, l recently was given the opportunity to set up my own broking company. Bringing an amazing base of existing clients with me, I set up Tasman Insurance Brokers Ltd and haven’t looked back!

About Megan
After spending the last 14 years working in various roles across the Insurance industry, I am now the newest addition to Tasman Insurance Brokers. I have had the pleasure to work alongside Karen in a previous role and could not be more excited to join her team. I have a wide range of insurance knowledge with small to medium businesses previously being my focus. I pride myself on a high level of customer service and am committed to doing what I say, when I say I will do it.
I was born and raised in the Nelson region and live on a small farm in Upper Moutere with my partner and chaotic Vizsla puppy, Strada. My spare time is usually spent outdoors enjoying this beautiful region, whether it be tramping up the side of a mountain or sitting in the sun enjoying a good glass of wine.
I look forward to meeting all of our clients and building long lasting relationships.

I’m very excited to have joined the team here at Tasman Insurance Brokers as our Domestic Broker. In terms of industry experience, I am quite new to insurance with just under 2 years in the industry. I bring with me over 20 years of client focused work experience in various administration roles and a passion for looking after clients.
My career in the insurance industry began at a time where the domestic market was becoming very difficult. I have learnt a lot because of this, growing my knowledge of difficult risks and making sure my clients are adequately protected if the worst happens. I am passionate about building relationships with clients, whilst making their domestic insurance journey as smooth as possible.
Originally from the Wellington region (don’t hold it against me!), we moved down here in 2018 to get away from the hustle and bustle of Wellington. In my spare time you will find me working on my lifestyle block with my family – there is always something to do! We also like to get out and about and enjoy the many walking tracks in the region and the benefits of living in such a beautiful part of New Zealand.
I’m looking forward to getting to know our clients and understanding their insurance needs.
